Michael Maibach, EABC President & CEO

Julie M. Clark
Government Affairs Director

Julie M. Clark Julie serves the European-American Business Council as Government Affairs Director. She brings to the EABC an extensive background in Washington, DC. Her Senate career began as an intern for U.S. Senator Connie Mack (R-FL) and the Senate Finance Committee under Chairman William V. Roth (R-DE). After graduating from Florida State University, she returned to Washington to work for U.S. Senator Connie Mack (R-FL) and upon his retirement, Julie accepted a position with former HHS Secretary Jack Kemp at Empower America.

Julie later returned to the Hill, serving as Scheduler to Senator Don Nickles (R-OK) and Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), respectively. Before coming to the European-American Business Council, Julie was the Estate Manager for the Fuqua family in Atlanta, Georgia as well as the Administrator of the Opry Trust Fund while working for Gaylord Entertainment in Nashville, Tennessee. Over the years, Julie has served on several boards including: The Living Legacy of Scotland, Taste of the South, Florida State Society, and the Seminole Club of Greater Washington DC. Julie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with a major in Political Science. She minored in British Studies while studying abroad at FSU’s London Study Centre. Born in Toronto, Canada, Julie is a naturalized United States citizen.

Alexis L. Serfaty
Policy Director

Alexis L. Serfaty Alexis L. Serfaty serves as Policy Director for the European-American Business Council. Based in Washington, DC, Alexis oversees a broad policy agenda, including EABC working groups on Accounting & Auditing, eHealth, RFID technology, and Global Trade & Investment. Prior to assuming his current position at EABC, Alexis served as Policy Associate at Business Executives for National Security (BENS), where he focused on U.S. legislative outreach on such issues as WMD nonproliferation and oversight of the Department of Homeland Security. His previous work experience also includes the U.S. House Foreign Relations Committee and the French Foreign Ministry’s Policy Planning Department. A native Washingtonian, Alexis is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and holds an MA in International Relations from Sciences Po in Paris, France.

Jan L. Barnes
Europe Director

Jan Jan is the EABC’s European Director and is based in Europe. Jan manages the EABC’s policy activities related to Bio-Fuels, Digital Economy, the WTO’s Information Technology Agreement and eAccessibility. Prior to joining the EABC, Jan worked as a consultant in European public affairs, specialising in healthcare, energy and chemicals-related legislation.

Jan obtained his BA at University College London and completed his Masters at the London School of Economics. His working languages are English, German and French.





Katie M. Kettles
Operations Manager

Katie Katie is the EABC’s Executive Assistant and Operations Manager. Katie oversees the scheduling and contacts for the office and keeps things running smoothly. Prior to working at EABC Katie spent almost two years at The Challenger Learning Center of Greater Washington, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring today’s youth.

Katie obtained her BS in Psychology from James Madison University and is currently enrolled in the Community Counseling Master’s program at The George Washington University.

Katie and her “husband-to-be” recently bought a home in Fairfax, VA and live there happily with their cat Madison.
