Michael Maibach, EABC President & CEO
Alexis L. Serfaty
Policy Director
Based in Washington DC, Alexis oversees the direction of the EABC policy agenda, with a particular focus on cross-border investment, data privacy, and 3rd country market access barriers. In this capacity, he coordinates the Council’s public outreach efforts with US and European government officials and manages such industry policy committees as Capital Markets, eHealth, and RFID technology.
Prior to assuming his current position, Alexis served as an Associate at the Business Executives for National Security (BENS), where he focused on legislative outreach on such issues as weapons nonproliferation and Congressional oversight of the Department of Homeland Security. His previous work experience includes the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee and the French Foreign Ministry’s Policy Planning Department. A native Washingtonian, Alexis is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and holds an MA in International Affairs from Sciences Po in Paris, France. He is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
Jan L. Barnes
Europe Director
Jan is the EABC’s Europe Director and is based in Brussels. Jan manages the EABC’s policy activities related to Bio-Fuels, Digital Economy, the WTO’s Information Technology Agreement and eAccessibility. Prior to joining the EABC, Jan worked as a consultant in European public affairs, specialising in healthcare, energy and chemicals-related legislation.
Jan obtained his BA at University College London and completed his Masters at the London School of Economics. His working languages are English, German and French.
Laura Reidy
Program and Media Manager
Laura began working for the European American Business Council in July of 2009 and is responsible for coordinating events and media outreach. Prior to joining EABC, she was the Education Director for the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA), the largest international non-profit organization in the United States. She also worked for a local World Affairs Council in Hartford, CT, prior to her time at the WACA. Her work experience also includes political campaigning and work with the Democratic Party of Connecticut.
She studied abroad in London where she was able to work for the Co-operative Party, a faction of the Labour Party. She received a BA in Political Science from American University in Washington, DC.
Dan Whitfield
Member Support and Satisfaction Manager
As Member Support and Satisfaction Manager, Dan is responsible for working with Member Companies to ensure they make full use of the services offered by the European American Business Council. Prior to joining EABC, Dan worked for the Leadership Institute, the nation’s leading training organization for conservative activists. Dan spoke at over a dozen trainings, and managed the Institute’s outreach efforts with grassroots organizations and on Capitol Hill.
Originally from England, Dan has a BA in History from the University of Nottingham, and an MA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His writing has been published by The American Thinker, The Center for Policy Studies, and Freedom Today, and he has appeared on several radio and television programs, including University Radio Nottingham’s The Big Picture, The Steve West Show in Vermont, The Morning Beat with Curtis Wright in North Carolina, ITV’s It’s Your Shout, and Channel Four’s TFI Friday.
Katie M. Kettles
Operations Manager
Katie is the EABC’s Executive Assistant and Operations Manager. Katie oversees the scheduling, contacts, and membership for the office. Prior to working at EABC Katie spent almost two years at The Challenger Learning Center of Greater Washington, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring today’s youth.
Katie obtained her BS in Psychology from James Madison University and is currently enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program at The George Washington University.
