EUROPEAN-AMERICAN BUSINESS COUNCIL
STRENGTHENS LINK WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION

EABC Opens Brussels Office & Appoints First EABC European Director

Brussels, 29 November 2004– Michael Maibach, President & CEO of The European-American Business Council (EABC) has appointed Ms. Sandrine Nelissen Grade as the first Brussels-based EABC European Director and opened an office in the European capital.  Sandrine’s role will reflect the organization’s expanding advocacy on behalf of major companies engaged in Trans-Atlantic trade and investment.

The European American Business Council is a member-driven association promoting Trans-Atlantic economic growth while supporting the success of its member companies. The EABC leadership consists of internationally respected senior political and business professionals. EABC members include more than 40 European and American-based global enterprises.

“With the historic enlargement of the European Union to 25 Member States earlier this year, and with improved Trans-Atlantic relations a vital imperative, it is the ideal time to establish a formal EABC Brussels presence with the appointment of our first permanent local representative. An organizational presence at the heart of the EU is pivotal in enhancing European and US relationships and ensuring business communities are adequately represented in the capital of Europe”, said Michael Maibach.

Commenting on her appointment, Maibach continued: “I’m delighted Sandrine has agreed to join the EABC in addressing key Trans-Atlantic policy challenges central to a strong US-European commercial partnership. Sandrine is well-placed to raise awareness of the EABC within key European business and government circles.  She has an extensive knowledge of the corporate landscape and a proven record of building media and government policy engagement through her work within APCO Worldwide, a global consulting firm”.
